Tooth whitening is an elective therapy procedure which you can undergo to lighten the naturally given color of your teeth or in case you have teeth which have been stained or discolored either during the formative years of due to trauma of some kind.

Discoloration of teeth can be segregated into two types:

a) Extrinsic Stains which are basically collections on the tooth surface and are treated by procedures known as scaling and polishing.
b) Intrinsic Stains or discolorations which may be due to inherent yellow coloration of the tooth, mottling of the teeth due to chemicals during their formative years or blackening of the tooth due to pigments released into the tooth structure due to trauma of some kind.
